Divorce and Remarrying

What is Divorce?

The meaning of Divorce is done with a legal binding document or a covenant separating both husband and wife from a binding covenant in marriage which is called a bill of divorcement. (Deuteronomy 24:1, Isaiah 50:1, Jeremiah 3:8, Mark 10:4), A bill of divorcement which is a formal document should be handed to the spouse in fault which results in a complete separation.

What are the grounds for Divorce?

• Any form of sexual Immortality

These forms of sexual immortality are adultery, fornication, incest, homosexuality, beastility, hence the word “uncleanness” in Deuteronomy 24:1.

Abuse (Exodus 21:26-27, Exodus 21:7-11, Deuteronomy 28:15)

The definition of Maid Servant (Exodus 21:7-8, Genesis 16:3)

What is Adultery?
(Leviticus 20:10, Leviticus 19:20, Deuteronomy 22:22-24, Matthew 5:28, Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:11-12, Luke 16:18, Romans 7:3)

Why was the bill of divorce introduced? (Matthew 19:7-12, Mark 10:2,5-12)

Can a woman put away her husband? (Mark 10:12)

Now if you do separate / divorce, you are to remain unmarried. (1 Corinthians 7:10-11) or you both can forgive and continue in marriage, only if both parties have not defiled themselves by adultery according to Deuteronomy 24:4 and Jeremiah 3:1.

According to this knowledge, the Messiah vetoed the fact that she may go and be another man's wife.

When are you free to remarry?

At the death of your spouse. (Romans 7:2-3, Ruth 1:4,5, Ruth 4:10)

Can you marry someone new while your spouse is still alive?

No you cannot, it is known as ADULTERY.

The choice to marry is a difficult choice for one, you must choose the best possible candidate to love, care and be faithful to you but if that does not happen, remember to marry is entirely your choice to make.

No one is to blame for someone's choice to be ungodly, the best you can do is live and take responsibility for the choice of “I do” by forgiving and or moving forward separated.
