What is worship? What is Worship ? Different forms of worship? Is there a wrong way to worship? What is the true meaning of worship? What is the purpose of worship? Genesis 24:26 [26] And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the Lord.  Genesis 24:52 [52] And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. Exodus 34:8 [8] And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.  2 Chronicles 29:28-30 [28] And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. [29] And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped. [30] Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the Lord with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed thei...

What is Tongues?

To put it in simple terms, to speak tongues is to speak languages.

How should we use our tongues?

We should use our tongues to edify, teach and educate one another.

What is needed when we speak tongues?

An interpreter is needed to interpret the language for the ones who don't cannot understand nor speak it.

How can one access this spiritual gift?

One can access this spiritual gift by keeping TMH's laws and commandments.

The first time languages / tongues was introduced :

(The Story : Tower of Babel)
Genesis 11:1-9

[1] And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

[2] And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

[3] And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

[4] And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

[5] And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

[6] And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

[7] Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

[8] So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

[9] Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

We have also found out that this spiritual gift of tongues is also called prophesying. (prophecy)

The present tense gift (in the act), we use the word prophesy.

The past tense gift (it has already been declared), we used the word prophecy.

1 Corinthians 12:10
[10] To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

An example of this is in :

 Numbers 11:27-29
[27] And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.

[28] And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

[29] And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the Lord'S people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!

The third time tongues / languages occurred in the bible was in Acts 2:1-12

(The Day of Pentecost)

Acts 2:1-12

[1] And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

[5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

[6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

[7] And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

[8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

[9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

[10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

[11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

[12] And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

Let's try to interpret Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:1-33 to understand a bit more on how tongues should be illustrated.

How do I know if I'm speaking tongues?

The answer is if you are fluent in more than one language, you are already speaking tongues.

What is Vain Babbling?

Vain babbling is considered not a language, in fact, it edifies no one, take a look at some of the scriptures below for clarity.

1 Corinthians 14:4-14

[4] He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

[5] I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

[6] Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

[7] And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?

[8] For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

[9] So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

[10] There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

[11] Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

[12] Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

[13] Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.

[14] For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

TMH tells us that we should shun and avoid vain babblings.

1 Timothy 6:20
[6] O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

2 Timothy 2:16
[16] But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness
