The church is referred in the Bible as TWO things :
1. A building or structure in which people of a certain belief congregate also known in the Bible as a “Synagogue”
Psalms 74:8
[8]They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.
Matthew 4:23
[23]And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Mark 1:21
[21]And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
Luke 11:43
[43]Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
John 18:20
[20]Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.
2. A nation of a set of people called Israel who were in the wilderness.
Acts 7:38
[38]This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
Acts 2:47
[47]Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 11:22,26
[22]Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
[26]And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Matthew 16:18
[18]And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Should I be going to church?
If you are the church, how can you go to a place to worship knowing fully well that the place in question was not ordained by TMH.
Is a building required for serving TMH?
No, it is not. Fellowship today is about finances and not based on the commandments, all they wish to do is collect your tithes and offerings, they make it a requirement to come to church.
Requirements for a substantial building of worship, tabernacle, temple, synagogue and church.
1. Must be ordained by TMH which means TMH must command and sanction for the building to be made.
2. The people would stand at the door.
3. Only the Levites were allowed to go into the tabernacle of congregation.
The first tabernacle
(Exodus 25:8 / Tabernacle / Sanctuary).
Exodus 25:8
[8]And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
Place of meeting at the door of the tabernacle which is
Exodus 29:42
[42]This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.
Purpose of the first Tabernacle was so that TMH and man could meet, please note that the first tabernacle was built by Moses
The second tabernacle was made by Solomon this time.
2 Samuel 7:4
[4]And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,
1 Chronicles 17:2/Tabernacle / Sanctuary
[2]Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.
Place of meeting at the door of the tabernacle.
Purpose of the second Tabernacle was so that TMH and man could meet
1 Kings 8:10-14
[10]And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,
[11]So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
[12]Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
[13]I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.
[14]And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;)
